Nola is 11 months old as of April 25th. It's crazy, but we seem to be at her pediatrician's office every month. There's a reason for that...we are playing some catch up with her immunizations, following up on some 'mystery' lab work, and making sure she is growing.
Just to back-up a bit, my Little Squirt was born prematurely. According to her medical report, she was born at 28-29 weeks. Sometimes I'm not quite sure whether to believe that, but this is the information I was provided during the referral process and it's part of her medical history.
Onto the latest. I'm happy to report that she has gained just over 1lb in this last month. She has gained a good pound every month for the last 3 months. She weighed in at 14lbs 13oz and is 26 1/4 inches tall. Her Dr. (& I) are very pleased. Though she's growing slowly, she's following her own curve nicely. And considering her adjusted age of just over 8 mos. and her early beginnings, she's doing just fab! Nola is strong, feisty and proud.
Here's what she's doing:
- April 3rd, at 10 mos., she is officially crawling. Prior to this she was doing the scooting backwards crawl for about 5 weeks. She is so proud of her ability to get from point A to point B.
- April 11th - talk about shock - I was called into her bedroom at 2am and found her standing in her crib. At 10.5 mos of age she is pulling herself up. Crawling and pulling herself up are a scary combination for this new mommy!!!! (see previous post with pics of her at the stairway gate)
- She is talking baby talk. Lots of babbling, singing, squeaking and squealing (another lovely combination). She is discovering her voice more and more every day.
- Noli is understanding me more and more, too. (at least someone does ;) She is learning the word 'NO', and knows 'baby', 'dragon', 'ball', 'fishy', 'book', 'hi', 'bye bye', 'keys', 'bottle', 'blanket', and more. It's so fun to see her recognize things and understand words.
- Walking - No, she's not officially walking. Though I almost thought she would skip crawling and jump right into walking. For the last few months already, she has us walking her around. It's one of her favorite things to do. She started cautiously cruising recently, too. We have to remind her to hold on while she tries to cruise.
I am truly amazed at her progress and so proud of my girl. Yayy for Nola!! My next task is to create a slide show and upload a video. Pressure is on after seeing fellow bloggers share fun shows of their little ones in action and I don't want to be left out ;)
ETA: I should clarify - Noli is not talking yet. Sorry for the confusion...when I said she knows certain words, I meant that she understands what certain words mean ;)
I could go on about how I don't feel I deserve such an honor, but instead I will accept this with a smile on my face, and continue doing all I can to make this world a better place. I hope that my blog serves as some inspiration to others out there who are either thinking about, or in the process of adoption.
