So close, yet so far away

Today I received some not so great news. Up until now things have been progressing nicely with my adoption, and I was anticipating a referral at any time. Kyrgyzstan has experienced some changes in government personnel including the Minister of Education. We've been waiting for new gov't officials to be appointed with hopes that referrals would resume once this new Minister was appointed, but that is not the case. It seems time is needed to assess the Kyrg adoption process and therefore, referrals are not expected to resume until September.

I'm sure you can imagine that I am a bit thrown off by this news. I was looking forward to having a baby home by summer and traveling during warmer months. So, now it's time for me to exercise some patience. Please send good thoughts and positive waves to me and my waiting friends. We surely will appreciate it ;)

On a happier note, let me not forget to post a picture. Meet Isabella, my friend Melanie's baby girl. Bella came home in Sept. '06. She has the sweetest smiles and cutest personality. I am so lucky to have met Mel, and better yet...we're neighbors. What a small world it truly is!

I know it will be a much longer wait to fullfill your dream, but look at it on the positive side, it gives you more time to get ready. Lets just hope it will be sooner than September. Also it gives you more time to experience adorable little Bella.

hang in there. pull up a comfy chair next to me. I can see it now, our dossiers side by side, collecting dust (hmmm, mine has a wee bit more dust on it than yours, you'll have to catch up!)
By the way, this little girl is adorable!

As I have said many times to many people, adoption, is one of those things that is not unlike a wicked roller-coaster ride where every turn is re-invented as you go along the track. And, of course, you have a front-row seat with someone else totally in charge of the controls! But it's worth every twist and turn in the end...

Hang in there!

Hmmmm. Did I not tell you to wear your shirt every day without washing!?
Don't worry, your baby girl will find you when she is supposed to!

Thanks for posting the pic of my baby girl. Isn't she the cutest?
