Fast Forward...2007 already?

So, I established this blog about 18 months ago. I can't believe how time has flown. I've decided that I should get my act together and update everyone on my latest developments. Really though, I want to use this site to keep family and friends informed.

A lot has happened since June, 2005. I made great efforts to have a baby and without going into all the trials and tribulations, I have chosen adoption to form my family. It's interesting that I am at this point since adoption is where I started before investigating having a biological child.

I've decided to adopt internationally from a country I barely knew the name of - Kyrgyzstan. More on that in a moment! My adoption process began at the end of November, 2006, when I contacted an agency to begin my home study. The home study is an important step in the lengthy adoption process for both domestic and international adoption. My home study was successfully completed at the end of January, 2007. While that was in the works, in early January, I submitted my I-600A application to USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). According to my local filing office I should have my approval within 90 days...so I expect this around early April. Yayyy!

Earlier this week I sent my signed contract to the adoption agency I am using to find my child. My next step in the paperwork process is to begin compiling my dossier for Kyrgyzstan. Things are moving along nicely and I am getting more and more excited about what lies ahead.

I should mention that I have sooooo much to do. This very weekend will be dedicated to organizing for my garage sale. I am most anxious to start decorating a nursery and in order to do that I have to clear the baby's room. Right now it's a holding area for garage sale goods. Once I get through this mess, I can focus on the fun part...decorating!
Like me you might have wondered 'where the heck is Kyrgyzstan?' Well, this Central Asian country is located west of China and is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, and Uzbekistan & Tajikistan to the west. According to my research, Kyrgyzstan is slightly smaller than South Dakota. I have quite a bit to learn about this country and will do this during the 'hurry up and wait' period before I travel to meet and bring home my baby.

So, wish me luck this weekend as I lock myself in the house and get organized for my future garage sale.

Thanks for reading!
