Dammit or Damn it!

This word has come out of Nola's mouth about 5-7 times now over the past few months. I've been ignoring it -- you know, because if you make a big deal, they'll say it more often ;) Anyway, what's crazy is that I DO NOT recall ever saying such a word in her presence. In fact, dammit is not one of my words of choice. And, I am ever-so-careful about what I say around her since I learned long ago that she is just like a sponge and enjoys repeating everything she hears. I became extremely cautious of my words and conversations around her ears over a year ago, just prior to her second birthday.

She recently said dammit the other day when I became frustrated. I said 'shoot' and she said 'dammit'. I was laughing so hard when she said it ... I mean, she actually knows when to say it. She knew I was bothered, and said exactly what I was thinking ;)

Dammit, Nola, where ever did you hear this word?

LOL... I recall a couple of slip-ups here and there... and guess from where, ha! Ah, from the mouth of innocents!

Cute! Oh, she could have heard it on TV or in the grocery store.

I wonder if you can make "shoot" a very appealing word?!

Please... don't tell anyone, it was from me -- I'm certain of it. :-) It was Josh's word of choice in the CHRISTIAN Preschool he went to, about four years old, I think he was. *sigh* Sorry, I didn't realize she could hear it all the way from here. I'll be more careful!

I'll go with that, Maria :)

I cannot imagine that word coming out of her sweet little mouth!
I am a bit relieved to know that she didn't start this right after the playdate with us;-)

Hmm... well, we've got the attitude to go with it happening up here with our LM, so I am now just hoping HE doesn't hear the word from Nola all the way up here! :) LOL... as with all other phases... likely this too will pass... let's just hope she doesn't "upgrade" to a really fun and not so acceptable word :)
